Position Title: Line Maintenance

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

The duties shall include, but not to be limited to the following:

  • Entry into confined spaces (Wetwells, Drywells and Manholes)
  • Remove debris from the pump stations in confined spaces (Human Wastes, Grease & Grit)
  • Check pump and generator operations at pump stations
  • Relieve stoppages, raise and lower clean-outs and manhole covers, pipe installation and other customer service functions
  • Perform assigned tasks in the repair and installation of service lines, mains and manholes and the patching and repairing of public roadways as result of such repairs or installations
  • Responsible for, including the operation of, in accordance with ESA procedures, large Authority vehicles such as jet vac-con truck, dump truck, articulated vehicles, backhoe, sewer cleaning machine, TV inspection van and other portable equipment
  • Performs preventative mechanical maintenance and minor mechanical repairs and parts replacement as needed
  • Repair fences, light fixtures & vents
  • Clean, paint and maintain Authority pump stations and enclosures
  • Perform building maintenance such as painting, power washing and floor washing
  • Wash, wax and clean motor vehicles
  • Perform emergency call-out duty in all weather conditions as directed
  • Works as a regularly assigned member of a work crew and perform physical labor as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Supervisory Controls

  • The Line Maintenance Operator works under the direction and supervision of the General Superintendent

Qualifications

  • A Class C1 or C2 NJDEP Wastewater Collection System License is preferred
  • Possess and maintain valid NJ Commercial Drivers License
    • Class B with tanker endorsement & air brakes
  • Pass a medical exam and drug test
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Ability to perform manual labor
  • Demonstrate ability in the operation of large Authority vehicles
  • Demonstrate ability in the installation and repair of service lines, mains and manholes
  • Ability to deal with the general public
  • Submit to random drug and alcohol testing as required by Federal Regulation

OUR HISTORY

The Eatontown Sewerage Authority is an autonomous authority created pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:14A-1 et seq., in 1959 and consists of five members who are appointed by the Borough of Eatontown for five year staggered terms.
